Happy New Year

Welcome Back to The Left-Handed Baker 2021

I know I might be a little bit late to the celebratory 2021 kick-off but I have a good reason.  I typically take off the last week of the previous year and the first week of the new year to get myself together, rejuvenate, and find my rhythm to bring you good quality content.  I started this blog at the end of June 2020 as an opportunity to share my culinary skills, adventures, and highlights with all of you. In that short amount of time, I’ve learned a lot but still have so much to learn so thank you for your support, comments, and feedback.  So many reached out to me over the holiday break to say they were trying recipes that I had posted it just filled my heart with joy.  Honestly, that was the best gift I could have been given, and I hope to provide you many more new recipes to try this year.

If you’re not already aware I’m a high school culinary arts teacher by day, Chef by trade, and food enthusiast.   This semester I’m taking my students on a world food tour and I thought it would be fun to take you all along with us.  Over the course of the next few months, we are visiting different countries & continents. First up this month we are in the Americas visiting Latin America, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.  No, I didn’t forget North America, however, North American cuisine has been uniquely influenced by all of these areas, and in many of the future areas, we will cover I’m sure you will find some recipes you will enjoy along the way.

2021 is off and running riding the coattails of its elder sibling 2020 and hopefully, while we are on this culinary journey together, we can infuse our own bit of joy, normalcy, and self-care.  Speaking of self-care, I will also be weaving in a few of my favorite self-care rituals and how important it is to take care of ourselves, so we are at our best to take care of our loved ones.  While I was away taking in some breathtaking mountain views in Denver, I had the opportunity to reflect and relax.  I hope you enjoyed a few of the photos I was able to capture during my trip to Denver, Loveland Pass, and a continental divide for the first time.
